The ever changing storage needs of two growing young boys was at the forefront of this children’s bedroom wardrobe design.
The detailed profile on the cabinet fronts was carefully selected to tie in with the detail on the original internal doors of this 1910 Wooloowin Queenslander. The pewter hardware were sourced to, again, tie in with the rest of the original hardware in the space. Ornate capping mould and custom skirting boards finish the cabinetry beautifully making it feel as though it’s always been a part of the traditional 5 bedroom family home.
The symmetrical design is divided in the centre by a stepped out reading nook complete with solid tasmanian oak bookshelves to store the boys colourful collection of books. The storage drawers below offer the boys plenty of storage space for toys, board games and most importantly, their lego. As they grow, this storage can be repurposed for clothes, shoes and sports equipment.
The storage space behind the main wardrobe doors is divided into short height hanging sections (which can later be adapted to suit longer clothes), internal pull out drawers and 32mm thick shelving.
The underutilised room between the master bedroom and closed in verandah of this Wilston home was the perfect location for a his and hers dressing room creating a luxurious master suite. Behind each of the crisp white profiled doors is carefully planned storage space for every item of clothing that the homeowners needed to store.
Varying height hanging rails accommodate shirts, pants and even long dresses while pull out rails keep belts and ties neatly stored and close to hand. Pull out drawers behind a set of double doors are used to neatly arrange shoes while folded jumpers, t-shirts and smaller personal items are stored in sets of his and hers pull out drawers.
The addition of mirror inserts in some of the door profiles helps to bounce additional light around the room while also typing in with the glamorous chandelier overhead. An additional row of cabinetry built up to the ceiling caters for storage of suitcases along with more occasionally used items such as ski wear and winter coats for overseas trips.
